Cottontown Neighborhood Listings for Sale in Columbia SC

Cottontown, also known as Bellevue Springs neighborhood, is one of the earliest suburban neighborhoods in the Columbia, South Carolina area.  North of downtown Columbia, which is centrally located in South Carolina between the beaches and the mountains, Cottontown resides between Elmwood Avenue, Main Street, and Bull Street.  This land was once owned by the Wallace family who sold part of the property to the State which is now known as the State Hospital Grounds.

Home styles in tree lined streets of Cottontown initially were primarily Craftsman Bungalows, but in the mid-1900’s expanded to include Tudor revival and colonial revival.  Homes in the neighborhood range in price from $135,000.00 to $250,000.00 with square footage ranging from 1250 sq. ft. to 2700 sq. ft. Thanks to the Historical Preservation Committee established in the 1990’s, many of the homes in this neighborhood are now on the Bellevue Historical District Registry.

Cottontown is home to the original Krispy Kreme donut shop which was on Main Street until the 1990’s.  The Columbia areas best vegan restaurant, the Lambsbread Café, is currently located on Main Street on the backside of the neighborhood.  Also nearby is the famous No Name Deli, famous for its Greek Salad, as well as for its delicious sandwiches.  Downtown Columbia is just minutes from Cottontown, allowing residents easy access to a large variety of other restaurants, parks, museums, and the fabulous Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens.  Cottontown also is near one of the areas local hospitals.
