BlueCross gets top rating from A.M. Best

The credit rating organization has given BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina its top rating of A+, or superior, for its financial strength. BlueCross was cited for strong market share in its core line; continuous profitability on a consolidated basis; and well-diversified revenue and earnings.

German-based parts maker to locate in Lowcountry

Dannecker Fine-Tec Gmbh will set up its North American operation in the Lowcountry, the S.C. Department of Commerce announced Wednesday. The company, which manufactures pieces used in aerospace, medical, semiconductor and hydraulic operations, is set to invest $3 million and create 40 jobs in the next few years.

S.C. insurance official re-elected to lead national area

Scott Richardson, director of the S.C. Department of Insurance, will again serve as chairman of the Southeastern Zone of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. His term will begin Jan. 1.

Employment agency asks for input on proposed changes

The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce wants employers to offer feedback on electronic filing of quarterly returns and a proposed change to regulations that would require faster submission of employee wage data.
