In its monthly U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, RealtyTrac national tracking firm noted that foreclosures in South Carolina fell 3.62% from December to January. In yearly reporting for January, foreclosures were down 6.32%.

SCANA 2010 earnings rise nearly $30 million

SCANA Corp. said today its 2010 earnings were $376 million, up from $348 million in 2009. The company also reported 2010 fourth quarter earnings of $95 million, compared to $76 million for the same quarter in 2009.

North Eastern Strategic Alliance releases 2010 report

The North Eastern Strategic Alliance reported that 18 companies expanded in the area in 2010, resulting in more than $132 million in capital investment and 1,356 jobs.

SBA to launch lending initiatives for underserved areas

Beginning Feb. 15, lenders who participate in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Preferred Lender Program can approve loans through the agency’s new Small Loan Advantage program. The agency also will begin accepting applications from community-based lenders interested in making SBA-guaranteed loans through the new Community Advantage program.

United Way of the Midlands gives humanitarian honor

Cathy B. Novinger has been named the 2010 Humanitarian of the Year recipient. Novinger will be recognized at the 27th annual United Way of the Midlands Humanitarian of the Year Dinner on Feb. 24 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
