Columbia tech startup aims to   create an app a week

Co-founders Brendan Lee   and Chris Thibault, along with CEO Steve Leicht and investor Bill Kirkland,   will hold an App Idea Day on Friday in Columbia, at which they will invite   individuals to contribute their own ideas for new apps. Lee and Thibault aim   to generate a new app every week with the launch of their new company,   52apps.

S.C. Heart Center relocates West   Columbia office

The new office is located   near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hebron Road, and serves Cayce,   West Columbia and Lexington communities. The West Columbia team includes four   board-certified cardiologists and a nurse practitioner.

  Harrill to head USC tourism   school

Effective July 1, Rich   Harrill will serve as the acting director of the School of Hotel, Restaurant   and Tourism Management at the University of South Carolina. Harrill succeeds   Sandy Strick who has served as the school’s interim director since 2010.

Francis Marion receives $75K for   nursing program

McLeod Regional Medical   Center made the donation to Francis Marion University’s nursing program.   Francis Marion President Fred Carter said the gift will enhance financial   support that the school can provide to students interested in pursuing   nursing careers.

Lion Air orders five 787   Dreamliners

The Boeing Co. announced   the agreement with the Indonesian airline last week. The Lion Air commitment   is worth roughly $967.5 million at list prices and pushes total 787 orders   near 860.
