Research funding at the University of South Carolina grew to a record $226.9 million in fiscal year 2011, a 3.7% increase over last year’s record of $218.8 million.

The Congressional redistricting plan approved by the South Carolina General Assembly at the end of the 2011 legislative session has been submitted to the U.S. Department of Justice for review and administrative approval.
DMV to offer free rides for those needing picture ID
Gov. Nikki Haley said the program could counter criticism of the voter law – which she supports – that it will suppress voting among seniors and poor people who are more likely to not have a picture ID or lack transportation to the local DMV office.

Alliance Consulting Engineers Inc. announced that Ismail Ozbek has been elected to the board of directors of the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers.
