Hughes would be ‘master developer’ for Bull Street

The contract for the property, signed by Greenville developer Bob Hughes and the S.C. Department of Mental Health on Thursday, is a virtual roadmap of the years-old efforts by the agency and the city to get the maximum value out of the property and make it a continuing asset to the Columbia economy.

S.C. unemployment rate drops slightly

South Carolina’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage point in November, to 10.6%. This continued decline in unemployment represents a move downward of 1.9 percentage points since January.

Proterra anticipates three foreign contracts

The Greenville bus manufacturer, which expects to produce 81 electric transit buses in 2011, announced it is close to inking three foreign contracts that could make the automaker an exporter out of the Port of Charleston.

Cold air fuels record for peak electrical demand

Santee Cooper said the recent cold temperatures and the hubbub of a weekday morning combined to set a record for peak demand at the utility on Tuesday as homes and businesses worked to stay warm.
