Homes in the Shandon area are a combination of old and new.  The first homes in the area were built in the 1890’s with a huge boom in growth occurring in the early 1900’s.  The Depression Era brought in more homes in the 1930’s and 1940’s, and then there was another period of growth again in the 1960’s.  Homes in the area range in value from just under $95,000 all the way up to almost $690,000.  Sizes of these homes range from just over 800 square feet to just over 4,000 square feet.  Homes on the tree lined streets of this charming neighborhood are meant to suit every potential home owner.

Located near the center of the Shandon neighborhood is Sims Park, which provides access to a playground, a picnic shelter, a basketball court, a water sprayer during the summer, and a neighborhood center that provides computer access to residents.  The park also houses a Police Substation.  Emily Douglas Park is also located here and is soon expected to have an ampitheater.  Shandon’s location puts residents within minutes of some of the most fabulous restaurants, from a simple vegan dish at the Rosewood Market to a gourmet feast at Garibaldi’s in Five Points.  Shandon is also close to several colleges, Fort Jackson Army Base, a number of museums and theaters, as well as easy access to several rivers, lakes, and even State and National Parks.  Residents of the Shandon community will never lack for something to do near home or a few hours up the road.
