The Lake Carolina community is one of the most fabulous in the Columbia, South Carolina area and was named Community of the Year for 9 years.  Lake Carolina lies on the northeast side of Columbia, SC and to the south of Blythewood, SC.  Lake Carolina itself is the center of this amazing community which is bordered by Hard Scrabble Road to the east, Kelly Mill Road to the north/northeast, and the Summit community to the south.  With I-77 just 10 minutes up the road, residents can be in downtown Columbia, SC in 15 minutes or in Charlotte, North Carolina in little more than an hour.  This interstate also intersects with I-20 and I-26 enhancing the variety of places residents can find themselves.  With Myrtle Beach, SC and Charleston, SC to the east, residents can be at the beach in 2 to 3 hours.  If you prefer the mountains, Greenville, SC and Asheville, North Carolina are within 2 hours of the community.  And if the big city is your preference, Atlanta, Georgia is under 5 hours away.  No matter where you might wish to go, Lake Carolina in central South Carolina puts you in the center of everything.

Residential opportunities in the Lake Carolina community are numerous.  With a 200 acre lake, there are a large number of homes that are lakeside.  And with 30 separate and distinct neighborhoods, residents have many options from which to choose.  The larger homes in the area are valued at over $300,000.00.  Small townhomes in some neighborhoods are valued below $125,000.00.  The homes vary in size, with the largest being over 3000 square feet and the townhomes being in the 1800 square foot range.  Because of the vast variety of homes in the area, amenities include beautiful lake views, fabulously large kitchens, finished basements, workshops, screened porches, whirlpools, and private balconies.  One particular neighborhood, The Peninsula, is a gated community with private amenities.  There is also a shopping village with residential opportunities on the upper floors.  With the vast array of neighborhoods in Lake Carolina, there is certainly a home to suit just about anyone.

Lake Carolina includes not only a 200 acre lake, but 170 acres of preserved natural area providing access to green spaces for hiking, biking, and playing.  Residents in the community have access to boating on the lake, swimming pools, tennis courts, play areas, and club houses through membership in several of the different Associations and Clubs in the community. The community also includes two different shopping areas which include restaurants, services, and shops.  The community also has several festivals every year and a weekly farmers market during the warmer months.  With all of this, residents can live, work, and play all in Lake Carolina.  For those who golf, there are 9 golf courses within minutes of Lake Carolina.  A new 55,000 square foot YMCA is adjacent to the community. And residents are just a quick drive from the famous Village of Sandhills, with its large variety of eating establishments and shops.  In less than 15 minutes, residents can be in downtown Columbia, SC, with access to the areas large array of Arts activities, museums, restaurants and shops to include daytime and nighttime activities.  Living in Lake Carolina gives residents a feel of living in a small city, but provides access to many more adventures just minutes from the community.
