Shipped cargo up 4.4% at Columbia   airport

With the arrival of   Amazon’s fulfillment center in Cayce, officials say cargo traffic has   increased at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Meanwhile, the number of   passengers boarding planes at the Columbia airport slipped 2.6% to 41,347 in   July.

Clemson program to help develop   S.C. agribusiness

S.C. concrete company names new   CEO

Jose A. Llontop was named   the new president and CEO of Summerville-based Giant Cement Holding Inc. He   will be in charge of overseeing the company’s American operations. Llontop   previously held senior level positions at Cemex.

City of Columbia posts $2.5M   surplus for fiscal year

The results mark the   third year in a row the city of Columbia ended with a budget surplus. The   city’s reforms include refinancing existing bond debt, saving $13 million;   and a 2012 payroll analysis that showed staffing changes saved $4.5 million   since 2009.

 

 

 

 

         
   

   

Comments sought on transportation   funding plans

The S.C. Department of   Transportation is seeking public comment on proposed funding plans for its   2013 federal aid and mass transit programs. Federal aid program   appropriations have been reduced to $756 million in fiscal year 2013 from   $813 million in 2012.
