USC Aiken names new chancellor

Sandra J. Jordan, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia College & State University, has been named chancellor of the University of South Carolina Aiken. Jordan will become the fourth chancellor of USC Aiken, succeeding Thomas L. Hallman who is retiring after 12 years in that position.

Columbia attorney to lead S.C. Bar

Angus H. Macaulay was installed as the 2012-13 president of the South Carolina Bar this week at the South Carolina Bar Conference Center in Columbia. Macaulay practices at Nexsen Pruet LLC in the area of employment law and business litigation.

 


Bridgestone sets first steel beam at Aiken County plant

A small ceremony Thursday marked an historic milestone for the tire maker’s 1.5-million-square-foot manufacturing facility, which is part of $1.2 billion investment. The investment will increase Bridgestone Americas’ workforce in Aiken County by more than 850 positions.

S.C. BlueCross Foundation grant to aid free clinics

The $5.25 million grant enables the South Carolina Free Clinic Association’s 42 member clinics across the state to have a centralized and integrated support system. The association and its members together will receive $1.75 million for each of three years.

 

 


Wolfe elected as president of SCEDA

The South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association elected George B. Wolfe president for 2012-13 at the organization’s annual conference in Hilton Head this week. Wolfe is a partner with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough law firm in Columbia.

ZF sees growth in North American market

ZF’s North American sales grew by 46% in 2011, and ZF Friedrichshafen AG’s new CEO Stefan Sommer expects further North American growth in 2012. ZF Transmissions LLC continues hiring to ramp production at its Laurens County facility.
