State Ports Authority pulls out   of national group

Charleston is the only   major U.S. seaport to not be a member of the American Association of Port   Authorities, which represents ports in the Western Hemisphere. A ports   authority spokesperson said the agency is focused on deepening the Charleston   Harbor.

Southeastern Freight launches   mobile website

The trucking company says   customers will be able to access on-the-go shipping information via   smartphones and tablets on its new mobile website. Dick's Sporting Goods opens   Midlands store

Pittsburgh-based Dick’s   Sporting Goods is opening a new store today in northeast Richland County. The   new Midlands location, in the busy and growing shopping area around the   Target Center, will be the retailer’s 10th store in South Carolina.

USC names new dean of nursing   college

Jeannette Andrews will   begin her new position Jan. 1 as dean of the University of South Carolina   College of Nursing. Andrews currently serves as associate dean for research   at the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Nursing.
