The U.S. Green Building Council S.C. Chapter’s SustainSC 2011 Conference and Expo will take place June 2-3 at the Columbia Convention Center. The keynote speakers are Gil Sperling, senior advisor for policy and programs at the U.S. Department of Energy, and Rick Muttart, shared services for Boeing Co. in South Carolina.
Miller-Valentine Group, a real estate development company, and Jason’s Deli have opened for business in new quarters at 823 Gervais St. in Columbia. The companies expect to have 80 employees working at the new mixed-use development, located next to Starbucks in the Vista.

Commerce Department to hold Chile Export Seminar
An export seminar on marketing opportunities in Chile will be held May 25 by the state Commerce Department and the College of Charleston business school. The event will be held at no charge from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wachovia Auditorium on the school campus. Seating is limited so participants must register online at the Commerce Department website.
Krispy Kreme opened its first Neighborhood Shop in Columbia today on Garners Ferry Road in the Landmark Square Shopping Center.
In a negotiated offering, SCANA Corp. sold $300 million in medium term notes due May 15, 2021. The offering replaces existing debt.

Leadership Columbia Alumni Association, a program created and managed by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, has scheduled its 14th Annual Leadership Summit, with keynote speaker S.C. Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt. The event will take place at noon on May 17 at The Summit Club.
Sawgrass Technologies Inc. is looking to hire a sales center agent to join its sales team. The position requires computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; experience in the use of contact management and order processing software; and strong telephone voice and verbal communication skills.
