The National Labor Relations Board said today it approved the withdrawal of a charge by the Machinists union against The Boeing Co. and its decision to open a 787 final assembly plant in North Charleston. The announcement comes after a contract was ratified between the two parties on Wednesday that, in part, guaranteed work on the 737 Max aircraft would be done in the Seattle area.
Spartanburg County Council voted unanimously today to bring mega online retailer Amazon.com to the area. This would be the Seattle-based company’s second S.C. distribution facility. Amazon recently opened a new 1-million-square-foot distribution center near Cayce.
Columbia-native Mark Cox will serve Capital Bank’s commercial banking division. Capital Bank, formerly First National Bank of the South, has branches in Richland and Lexington counties.
A South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. executive told analysts that the Cayce-based utility company anticipates a ruling in December or January from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission regarding its request to build and operate two nuclear reactor units.
The University of South Carolina said the agreement will strengthen its relationship with Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, which will help
enhance Chinese language learning and expand cultural exchanges
for students and faculty.
