Sonoco to invest $100M in Darlington County facility

It is the single largest capital investment that Sonoco has made to its Hartsville manufacturing operations and in South Carolina, an official said. A majority of the investment will be used to add a new biomass boiler to the plant, which will replace two aging coal-fired boilers.

Production up 80% at BMW’s S.C. plant

The German automaker said it plans to produce more than 270,000 units at its Spartanburg plant this year. That exceeds the production boost the company originally forecast when opening the new South Carolina assembly line late last year.

 

 

SafeRack to expand in Georgetown County

The maker of loading racks, platforms and fall protection equipment said it will invest $9 million in its current operations in Georgetown County. The investment is expected to generate 58 new jobs.

Army corps, ports authority discuss harbor deepening

The Army Corps of Engineers held a public meeting about its harbor deepening study Tuesday evening. The S.C. State Ports Authority, along with local and statewide leaders, also held an event to discuss the importance of deepening Charleston Harbor earlier that day.
