SCE&G seeks 6.6% hike in base   electric rates

The Cayce-based utility,   principal subsidiary of SCANA Corp., said the rate hike is needed to recover   some $300 million spent on upgrades and improvements to its electric   transmission and distribution system. The new rate request should raise about   $151 million in additional revenue, SCE&G said.

Senn Brothers awarded $45.5M   military contract

The West Columbia food   wholesaler will be providing fruit and vegetables to U.S. military   installations in the region. S.C. regulators OK Duke-Progress   merger

The Public Service   Commission of South Carolina unanimously approved the companies’ plan for its   joint operating system today, clearing the way for Duke Energy’s merger with   Progress Energy. The N.C. Utilities Commission approved the merger on Friday.

Negotiations affecting Boeing   S.C.’s first delivery

Air India and the Boeing   Co. are negotiating the delivery of the airline’s 787s, and an aerospace   analyst called some of Air India’s demands “childish.” The first   Lowcountry-built 787 is tagged for Air India. Lawmakers tag $300M for harbor   deepening

State lawmakers included   funds in next year’s budget to pay for the construction phase of the   Charleston Harbor deepening project. The $300 million covers the project’s   entire estimated cost. The project is now in the feasibility study phase.
