Job fair draws 1,500 veterans to Fort Jackson

Tuesday’s job fair for veterans was one of the largest of some 100 events hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ninety-five local employers, ranging from private industry to government agencies, were on hand at the Solomon Center to recruit veterans.

High gas prices hit S.C. households hard

A Wells Fargo study ranks South Carolina second only to Mississippi in the percentage of residents’ after-tax income spent on gasoline. The impact of higher gas prices are felt most in the South and some Midwest states, the study said, where the economy is more rural.

Proterra Inc. is in different stages of negotiations with up to eight transit agencies around the U.S. that have received funding to buy battery electric buses — funding that could translate to new customers, said Proterra’s Founder Dale Hill during the 2012 International Electric Vehicle Conference in Greenville Tuesday.
