Haley seeks to bolster economic ties to India

India’s ambassador to the U.S., Nirupama Rao, toured S.C. this week with Gov. Nikki Haley looking for ways to improve her country’s infrastructure and learn how the state leverages its colleges to collaborate with industry. Rao said India also is looking for S.C. investments, particularly in the fields of infrastructure and energy.

State launches website for entrepreneurship

Gov. Nikki Haley and the S.C. Department of Commerce launched a new website that will serve as a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs who want to start a new business or expand an existing one. SCBizNetwork.com provides new market information, business financing options, workforce development and regulatory information.

Columbia native Robert C. Rhodes will be responsible for claims operations, third-party administrative services, and premium audit and information systems. Companion Property & Casualty Group is a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.

SCE&G estimates lower capital costs in nuclear project

SCE&G filed a petition with the state Public Service Commission that says overall capital costs are at least $13 million lower than original estimates for two reactor units at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station.

S.C. foreclosures a smaller percentage of all sales

Homes in foreclosure are making up a much smaller percentage of all home sales in the state both in the fourth quarter of 2011 and for the entire year, according to figures released by RealtyTrac.

Conference to highlight Southeast wind potential
