Richland County aims to remain manufacturing hub

According to 2007 data compiled by Miley, Gallo & Associates LLC, Richland County actually had slightly more manufacturing jobs (10,434) than Lexington County (10,314).

School Boards Association buys SCANA building

The 20,800-square-foot building was formerly occupied by SCANA Corp., which has moved most of its operations into its new facility in Cayce. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

And the finalists are …

The Columbia Regional Business Report has released finalists for its Health Care Heroes awards to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Columbia. Finalists will be honored and the hero in each of the seven categories will be named at the event.

USC, Duke Energy focus on leadership, sustainability

The University of South Carolina and Duke Energy have established an executive-in-residence program that will bring some of the corporation’s top leaders to campus to discuss sustainability and leadership during the academic year.

Correction

James Ritter will be the principal investigator for the University of South Carolina on a research team that seeks to develop advanced post-combustion technologies for capturing carbon dioxide from coal-fired power plants. Job of the Week

The Upstate SC Alliance is seeking to hire a marketing research manager. The position will manage all research efforts, including compilation of data; and development of presentations, websites and marketing collateral. The manager will identify areas within the organization that need research assistance; design, manage and implement the data collection; and analyze and report the results.
