Sonoco aims for plants to become landfill-free

The Hartsville-based company is targeting the plants to operate without the need to send anything to a landfill by the end of 2011 and for 10% of the manufacturer’s plants to be landfill-free by 2015.

Former USC, NFL player sentenced for bankruptcy fraud

Richard Francis Sanford, 54, of Lexington, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Columbia to bankruptcy fraud and was sentenced to two years’ probation, 30 days’ home confinement and 100 hours of community service.

Security Federal of Aiken boosts Q1 net income

The bank holding company reported its net income of $351,000 for the three months ended June 30 was up 18%, or $54,000, compared with its net income in the fiscal first quarter of 2010.

Fitch affirms Richland School District Two debt ratings

Fitch Ratings affirmed the school district’s general obligation bonds, valued at $467.5 million, at AA+, and an additional $9.6 million of general obligation bonds at F1+. Fitch said the school district’s rating outlook is stable.
