The Senate put $100 million into the budget to be used to begin repaying loans made to the state by the federal government to keep the unemployment benefits system afloat. The House raised the amount to $146 million.
The subsidiary of Hartsville-based Sonoco opened The Recycling Center, a landfill diversion facility, today in partnership with Shoosmith Brothers Inc. of Chester, Va. The facility will be operated by Sonoco Recycling at the Shoosmith Brothers landfill in Chester.
BMW Manufacturing Co. has started shipping 4,000 X3 parts or body shells from its Duncan facility to markets in Russia, Thailand, Egypt and India, where final assembly will take place. This is part of the $100M investment BMW is making this year at its S.C. plant.
