Southeast ports need deeper channels, experts say

The race to deepen their harbors to accommodate future callings of post-Panamax containerships sometimes pits states’ port authorities against each other in seeking precious federal dollars for deepening projects.

SRS H-Canyon to support plutonium disposition

The National Nuclear Security Administration approved the use of the H-Canyon Complex at the Savannah River site to provide approximately 3.7 MT of plutonium oxide feed for the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility. The use of the H-Canyon Complex will result in the retention of approximately 90 high-quality jobs in South Carolina, and will continue to remove plutonium from the state.

 

Public sector employers struggle with benefit costs

The vast majority, or 80%, of human resources managers surveyed said their organization is seeking ways to cut costs of their employee benefits plan. More than half, or 58%, said controlling costs is the benefits program’s top priority.
