Food Drive Saturday in West Columbia - The Columbia Classic Chevy Club will conduct a food drive from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, October 8 in the parking lot of the Woodberry Plaza shopping center on U.S. 1 at the intersection with Woodberry Road in the West Columbia community. Lexington Country Sheriff James R. Metts encourages citizens to participate in the event by bringing non-perishable food items for donation to the annual Christmas food and toy drive that the Lexington County Sheriff's Department conducts. Sheriff's Department Sgt. Kevin Blackmon will attend the food drive and collect non-perishable food items that citizens donate. Citizens who want additional information about the food drive can contact William Clayborne with the Columbia Classic Chevy Club at (803)606-0509. The Sheriff's Department will donate all non-perishable food items that are collected during the agency's holiday food and toy drive at a Stuff-A-Bus public awareness event that will be conducted later this year. The food will be distributed to persons in Lexington County who are in need of assistance.

Recycled Teenagers Host Tractor Show - Nellie Rish of the Gilbert-Summit Senior Center, and her recycled teenagers invite the community to their annual Gilbert-Summit 2011 Antique Tractor, Tuck and Car Show this Saturday, October 8, 8 a.m. until mid-afternoon.
