Elmwood Park NeighborhoodFounded in the early 1900’s on land of the old State Fairgrounds, Elmwood Park was the 1st suburban neighborhood to be annexed to Columbia, South Carolina.  Located between Elmwood Drive, Main Street, and the railway following Laurens Street to the south sets this neighborhood right in the center of town and close to the Vista and 5-Points areas.  Being centrally located in the State and having three interstate systems flowing around the city, I-26, I-20, and I-77,  living in downtown Columbia, SC not only puts you in the center of the action, but puts you on a fast track to wherever you wish to go.  Be it the mountains, the beaches, Charlotte, North Carolina or Atlanta, Georgia, living in Elmwood Park puts you close to everything.

With magnificent, historic tree lined streets, Elmwood Park has the largest collection of homes built during the 1900’s.  With styles such as Queen Anne, Foursquare, and Colonial Revival, there are numerous homes on the National Registry of Historic Places, some which can be toured.  Homes in this community range in value from as low as $148,000 to as much as $569,000 and include amenities such as high ceilings, large porches, secluded yards, and video security.  The sizes of the homes here range in size from 1580 square feet to over 3600 square feet.  With the varied range of prices and square footage, anyone looking to live in this fabulous old neighborhood can find a home to suit them.

The best part of the Elmwood Park area is its fabulous location.  Not only are the homes beautiful, but the city itself is beautiful, especially at night.  Living here to many means leaving your car at home and walking  . . . to Riverwalk Park, to the Museum of Art, to the Mast General Store, several theaters, or to the USC campus, not to mention the huge variety of eating establishments to choose from.  Take the car and be at the nationally renowned Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens or the South Carolina State Museum and EdVenture Museum in a few minutes time.  With two main converging rivers in central Columbia, there are also numerous opportunities for kayaking, as well as hiking and biking along the Columbia greenways that follow the rivers.  Elmwood Park is a wonderful place to live if you want to be close to just about anything!
