Airport passenger traffic down   2nd straight month

After rolling up nine   consecutive months of increases, Columbia Metropolitan Airport has seen the   number of passengers drop in back-to-back months. In June, the total number   of passengers using the airport declined by 2% compared to June 2011.

Synovus reverses year-earlier   losses in Q2

The parent of S.C.-based   NBSC bank reported that net income for the second quarter was $39.5 million,   turning around a second-quarter loss in 2011 of $39 million. Elliott Davis expands at Bank of   America Plaza

The accounting firm is   marking its 20th anniversary in the Class “A” Main Street office building.   The Bank of America Plaza is currently in court-appointed receivership and is   for sale. The receiver’s deadline for offers to buy the building is the end   of this week.

Profits jump for Southern First   Bancshares

S.C.-based Southern First   Bancshares Inc. said net income to common shareholders for the second quarter   increased 72% to $589,000. Fitch affirms rating for   KershawHealth revenue bonds

Fitch Ratings affirmed its BBB+ rating on about $21 million worth of revenue bonds taken out by KershawHealth to finance hospital facilities. The hospital’s strong market share and agreement with Palmetto Health were cited as positive factors that led to the rating.

Nominate a Health Care Hero

Columbia Regional   Business Report will pay homage to the health care field at an awards dinner   in October, honoring volunteers, nurses, doctors, researchers, first   responders and others who touch lives in the Midlands. The deadline to nominate a Health Care Hero   is Aug. 3.
