Fitch: SCE&G nuclear project   remains below budget

South Carolina Electric   & Gas Co.’s projected costs for the new nuclear project at V.C. Summer   Nuclear Station remains $400 million below the estimate initially approved by   state regulators, Fitch Ratings said in a press release issued Wednesday.

BlueChoice HealthPlan retains   national accreditation

The National Committee   for Quality Assurance awarded the commercial health plan a three-year   accreditation after evaluating the quality of health care and customer   service BlueChoice provides. BlueChoice has been accredited at NCQA's highest   level since 1994.

 

 

         
   

   

 

Maritime commission asks to   intervene in lawsuit

The Savannah River   Maritime Commission filed a motion to intervene Wednesday in a lawsuit   between conservationists and the Army Corps of Engineers over the Savannah   Harbor Expansion Project, which is expected to deepen the Savannah River by 5   feet.

S.C. foreclosure activity up in   June

Foreclosure activity   increased nearly 30% in South Carolina compared to June 2011, according to data   released by RealtyTrac. Nationwide, foreclosure activity decreased on a   year-over-year basis for the 21st consecutive month in June.

 

 

         
   

   

Haley nets 26% of contributions   from businesses

Businesses and groups   representing business interests made up roughly a quarter of Gov. Nikki   Haley’s contributions from April 1 through June 30, according to a filing   with the S.C. State Ethics Commission. After second quarter expenses, Haley   was left with $998,000 in her campaign account.
