S.C. pension plan receives low rating   in Pew study

The Pew Center on the   States found that South Carolina’s pension plan was 66% funded in fiscal year   2010 and the plan faced a $15 billion funding gap. S.C. also paid 5% of its   $9.7 billion bill for retiree health care costs in 2010, compared to the   national average of 8%.

Clemson Road site sold for   development

The 1.65-acre site,   located at the corner of Clemson and Farrow roads in Columbia, recently sold   for $430,000. It will be the location for Frank’s Car Wash, which operates   multiple facilities across the state.

                 
   

   
   

   

 

         
   

   


  Sony America names USC alumnus as   general counsel

Mark E. Khalil, who   joined the company in 1989, will serve as executive vice president of Sony’s   U.S. subsidiary. Khalil will oversee the subsidiary’s legal department,   providing legal support to Sony America and various corporate and business   units.

CMARK expands food service   equipment brand

Fitch rates Richland County   school bonds AA+

 

         
   

   

Richland County School District   No. 2 is selling $15.8 million in bonds later this month to reduce interest   costs. While enrollment growth has slowed somewhat, the Northeast Richland   County school system still faces growth at levels that will require more   schools to be built.
