Manufacturers call for revisit of unemployment changes

The S.C. Manufacturers Alliance, which didn't weigh in on the issue last year, now wants lawmakers to revisit the 2010 unemployment insurance reform that led to spikes in some employers’ tax bills.

SCE&G seeks electricity rate increase

S.C. Electric & Gas Co. filed a request today with the Public Service Commission of South Carolina to increase the fuel cost portion of its rates by 1.56%.

Chamber, AT&T to issue calling cards to local military

AT&T and the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee are providing 4,500 prepaid, 100-minute cards to active military personnel from Fort Jackson, McEntire Joint National Guard Base and Shaw Air Force Base and to the USO.

Lexington Medical Center board adds member

Dr. Tripp Jones, an oncologist who has worked at Lexington Medical since 1980, is joining the hospital’s board of directors. He served as the hospital’s chief of staff from 1986 to 1988. He was also chairman of the hospital’s Cancer Committee for 29 years.
