SCE&G completes solar project at Boeing plant

Cayce-based South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. flipped the switch on the largest single rooftop solar installation in the Southeast during a dedication ceremony last week at The Boeing Co.’s North Charleston plant. It is the only location in the world capable of assembling commercial aircraft with 100% green power, an official said.

Lexington administrator hired by Spartanburg council

Spartanburg County Council voted unanimously Monday to hire Katherine Hubbard as the new county administrator. Hubbard is currently the administrator in Lexington County. The council also delayed a vote on an incentive package for Amazon.

S.C. chamber to host manufacturers conference

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2nd Annual Manufacturers Conference at the Crowne Plaza Resort on Hilton Head Island this week. Peter Fischer, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany’s minister of economics, will speak to manufacturers at a dinner Thursday night.

Jay Bikofsky re-elected chair of PHT Services

The managing principal of J.E.B. Consulting has been re-elected chair of the boards for Palmetto Hospital Trust, PHT Services Ltd. and Palmetto Healthcare Liability Insurance Program. Columbia-based PHT Services Ltd. provides risk management services to South Carolina’s health care industry.

Milliken Foundation gives $1 million to Furman

The gift, made in honor of Furman trustee Daniel S. Sanders, will support Furman University’s Charles H. Townes Center for Science. In the last two months, the university has secured $9 million in grants and private donations.
