Renovations to start on $2M convention center project
The Sheraton Convention Center will be in a former bank building on Washington Street, across from the Sheraton Downtown Columbia hotel owned by Rick Patel. The project represents an investment of more than $2 million and about 20 new jobs, Patel said.

S.C. county to build incubator for manufacturers
Abbeville County received a $1 million federal grant and will build a 22,000-square-foot incubator to provide mentorship and low rents for startup manufacturing companies. The site will include four manufacturing bays and shared office space.
Boeing delivers first S.C.-built Dreamliner
With a few signatures, officials with the Boeing Co. delivered the first 787 built outside Puget Sound to Air India at the company’s North Charleston Delivery Center today. An Air India official said the two 787s already in service are getting positive reviews.
Attorney General names communications director
South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has named J. Mark Powell as the office’s communications director. He will handle inquiries from the news media, field interview requests and maintain contact with reporters, editors and other interested parties.
