Amazon celebrates opening of   distribution center

Local and state leaders   cited the importance of working together to land major investments like the   e-commerce giant in South Carolina. Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said the   Amazon deal created positive momentum for his agency, which has landed   economic development deals leading to the creation of 25,000 new jobs.

First Community notifies SEC of   stock offering

The parent company of   First Community Bank notified the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission   today that it will seek to raise new capital with a sale of $12.5 million in   stock. Law firm buys downtown Columbia   office building

A 5,325-square-foot   building at 1329 Blanding St. has been sold for $565,000 to Rikard &   Protopapas LLC. The Columbia-based law firm plans to relocate its offices   there. Rikard & Protopapas represents individuals, families and   businesses in a wide range of legal matters.

EDTS acquires Georgia IT firm

EDTS, a technology   consulting firm with a South Carolina location, recently acquired Axios Data   LLC of Augusta, Ga. Southern First expanding S.C.   operations

Greenville-based Southern   First Bancshares Inc., which has banks in the Upstate and Midlands, said   Monday it will open a Charleston office and has hired a former NBSC executive   to lead it. The new office is set to open in the third quarter.
