Council clears way for development   of stadium site

An Atlanta-area developer   has offered $1 million to buy the 5.6-acre Capital City Stadium site in   Columbia. The development would be anchored by a 92,000-square-foot retail   store, and include smaller outlying parcels. The investment would total about   $35 million.

SCE&G intends to seek general   electric rate hike

The Cayce-based utility   would file its application for a general electric rate increase about a month   after asking the Public Service Commission for an average 2.5% increase to   cover nuclear construction costs.   Fuel cell collaborative launches   $75K challenge

The purpose of this   year's challenge is to engage interdisciplinary USC student teams to compete   for $75,000 in seed funding. The collaborative is expanding the scope of the   competition by recruiting businesses around the globe to submit real-world   challenges.

Mota Industrial leases Lexington   space

Mota Industrial Services   will begin occupying the 15,000-square-foot industrial space at 106 South   Lake Court in June.   Aviation planning firms merge

Mead & Hunt Inc.,   with offices in Lexington and Myrtle Beach, and Barnard Dunkelberg & Co.   merged June 1 and will provide aviation planning and environmental services.   Mead & Hunt also will continue to provide architecture and engineering   services to airports.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit to open Friday

The Dallas-based   franchise will open Friday along Two Notch Road in Columbia. In celebration   of the opening, Dickey's will be giving the first 100 customers a free   pulled-pork barbecue sandwich.

Andrew Rogerson obtained   his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Clemson University. He worked for   two years in the Columbia area before returning to school and earning his   master’s degree in architecture from the University of Oregon this year.
