Benedict College seeks city   approval for new dormitory

The college is seeking to   build a 100-suite, four-story dormitory at 2100 Two Notch Road, at the corner   of Read Street, to house as many as 394 students. The project is on the city   Planning Commission’s agenda for its meeting tonight.

USC reports record number of   Fulbright scholars

The 12 Fulbright scholars   will represent the University of South Carolina abroad in 2012-13, conducting   research, studying and serving as English teachers. SunTrust Mortgage settles   discrimination lawsuit

The mortgage lending   subsidiary of the 11th-largest U.S. commercial bank has agreed to pay $21   million to resolve a lawsuit by the U.S. Department of Justice that said it   engaged in a pattern of discrimination that increased loan prices for many   qualified African-American and Hispanic borrowers.

Trader Joe’s to open first   Midlands store in 2013

The California-based food   retailer will be entering the Midlands market about six months after   competitor Whole Foods opens its first Columbia store.   May sales of S.C.-built BMW   vehicles up nearly 24%

Some 6,000 sports   activity vehicles produced at the Spartanburg County plant sold last month in   the United States. Year-to-date sales for BMW brand vehicles are up 13.8% on   sales of 104,779 vehicles compared with 92,068 for the same period in 2011.

Flex building sells for $650K in   Richland County

Queen Street LLC, a real   estate investment group, purchased the 25,000-square-foot property with the   intention of seeking a tenant or reselling it, brokers at NAI Avant said. The   property is located just off Farrow Road in northeast Richland County.
