Arnold Cos. opens former hotel as rental apartments

Developer Ben Arnold has redeveloped the former hotel at the corner of Lady and Main streets in downtown Columbia as rental apartments. The first tenants for The Palms on Main begin moving in Friday. So far, 30 of the 53 units have been leased, the company said.

Subcontractor fair set for new Michelin plant

The event will be held June 6 at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center. Gray Construction will provide information to companies interested in working on the new Michelin Earthmover tire plant adjacent to Michelin's Starr facility in Anderson County.

 


Lake Carolina adds four brokers

Realtors April Hiscock, Bev Kay, Avril Brown and Mike Ashley are now affiliated with the company. In total, nearly 50 homes are under construction within the Lake Carolina community, situated on 1,850 acres northeast of Columbia.

Boeing logs five hours, nearly 2,000 miles with first flight

Boeing pilots took the first Lowcountry-built 787 Dreamliner on its inaugural flight Wednesday, and afterward, pilots praised the work of Boeing South Carolina. The next two milestones for the Dreamliner are paint and delivery, Boeing said.

 

 


Crescent starts new phase in Fort Mill development

Builders have committed to purchasing all 43 homesites, with David Weekley Homes buying 38 and Evans Coghill Homes LLC purchasing five. Development of the phase is expected to be complete in October, and home construction will start before the end of this year.

Collins & Lacy launches subrogation practice

The new practice is being headed by Joseph McCue, chairman for the Columbia firm’s construction group. Subrogation is a niche area of legal representation in which insurers or other third parties pursue recovery from responsible parties for losses caused by casualties.

 

NRC to discuss construction oversight of new reactors

Federal officials will hold a public meeting at 5:30 tonight on operations at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station. The meeting will be conducted in two parts, with plans to discuss an annual operations report and an inspection program for two units under construction.
