Tognum America expanding in Aiken County

The Germany-based maker of diesel engines expects to invest an additional $40 million and create 20 new jobs over the next two years. The company already has surpassed its initial plan of 250 employees, when plans for the plant were announced in early 2010.

Cable manufacturer to create 200 jobs in S.C.

Nexans will produce high-voltage power cables at a new facility in the Bushy Park Industrial Complex in Berkeley County. The company expects to begin operating the plant in 2014. Construction is expected to begin in 2012, and hiring will begin in late 2013.

 

 

Ports authority reports increased revenues, expenses

The S.C. State Ports Authority saw its revenues increase by 6.4% so far this fiscal year, while its expenses have also increased by 16.4%. The port also reported increased export cargo at its monthly board meeting Tuesday, which is now balanced with import cargo.

S.C. businesses honored at workforce symposium

The 2012 S.C. Workforce Development Partnership Symposium recognized G&G Metal Fabrication Inc., Southern Weaving Co. and the Charleston plant of Robert Bosch LLC for their hard work, dedication and contributions to their respective communities.

 


Farmers market opens at USC campus

The Farmers Market at the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus features area vendors and locally grown food. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on select Tuesdays in April.
