TDL industry means jobs to S.C., Hitt says
The transportation, distribution and logistics industry accounted for 15 new economic development projects that were announced in 2012, Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt said this week at the TDL Summit. The new investment of $370 million will create 2,200 jobs.
USC law school receives $2M gift for building campaign
The donation by Columbia lawyers Steven W. Hamm and Charles L. Dibble is the result of the settlement of a class-action lawsuit against American General Finance Inc. The money will help USC in its efforts to build an $80 million law school building in Columbia.
Foreclosures slowing statewide, nationally
In South Carolina, one in every 739 homes had a foreclosure filing in February, representing a decrease of nearly 35% from the year prior, according to the foreclosure tracking firm RealtyTrac. Nationwide, foreclosures were down 25% from February 2012.
