S.C. dentist admits Medicaid fraud

A South Carolina pediatric dentist will repay the government $800,000 after admitting to billing Medicaid for children’s dental procedures he never actually performed, officials said.

California firm seeks Midlands, Lowcountry offices

Fresh off its acquisition of a Greenville real estate brokerage firm, Lee & Associates plans to expand its S.C. presence to Columbia and Charleston. The company’s vice chairman said potential acquisitions are already on the table.


Security Federal boosts profit 83% in year

Security Federal of Aiken reported net income of $1.16 million for its fiscal year ended March 31, an increase of $526,000, or 83%, compared with net income $632,000 for its prior fiscal year.

Government spending cuts, housing slowing recovery

Overall growth continues to be restrained by cutbacks in government spending as well as the ongoing struggles in the housing market. The fallout from the Japanese earthquake also is expected to restrain output in the near term as parts shortages lead to some production cuts in the automotive and electronics industries

California-based foods maker to hire 700

Amy’s Kitchen, the California-based natural and organic convenience foods maker, will invest $63 million in the old Sara Lee building in Greenville County and hire 700 people over the next five years.
