Providence Hospitals cuts spending, staff

The hospital said the elimination of 35 jobs and $7.9 million in operating expenses would prepare the Columbia health system for changes in health care and the future needs of the community.

FDIC lifts consent order for Congaree State Bank

Congaree Bancshares Inc., the holding company for Congaree State Bank, received notification from bank regulators that the consent order it was under with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has been lifted.

Foreclosure filings down over 12% across S.C. for Q1

A double-digit downturn in first-quarter foreclosure filings in South Carolina doesn’t indicate a robust rebound, according to a real estate tracking firm. Most of South Carolina’s largest counties also reported double-digit declines in foreclosure filings against distressed properties from Q1 of 2010.

Eyring named VP of Columbia Contractors Association

Kurt Eyring, vice president and partner with the Miller-Valentine Group, has been named vice president of the Columbia Contractors’ Association. Eyring has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry and has been involved in a wide range of commercial and industrial projects.
