Powell to speak at S.C. State spring commencement
Former U.S. Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell will give the keynote address at the spring commencement at S.C. State University. The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. May 6 at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on campus. Powell served 35 years in the Army, was an aide to the secretary of defense and was a national security adviser to President Ronald Reagan before becoming the 65th secretary of state in 2001, in the administration of President George W. Bush.
