Mayors emphasize economic development, cooperation

Four Midlands mayors told business leaders that they are learning to work together better and focusing on new economic development opportunities.

S.C. Research Foundation to receive federal aid

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology announced that the S.C. Research Foundation will receive $78,000. The funds are part of $12 million in new technical support assistance to help critical access hospitals and rural hospitals adopt and become users of certified health information technology.

Lexington company expands into Georgia

KB Kitchen & Bath Concepts Inc. of Lexington is moving its Bluffton facility to Savannah to address a shift in homebuilder activity, the company said. The office is expected to be open by March 14 and will initially employ three people, with the possibility of adding two more in the summer.

Midlands Tech to expand electronic records training

Midlands Technical College has received a $25,000 grant to assist in electronic health records training in Fairfield County. The training will impact the quality of the data collected in electronic health records and prepare staff members for future roles in the adoption of electronic health records.

Nationally recognized solar expert returns to Columbia

John Wiles, who was involved with writing the photovoltaics section of the National Electrical Code, will be in Columbia on May 3 to conduct the full-day workshop Photovoltaic Power Systems: Solar and the National Electrical Code.

State chamber names HR Professional of the Year

Willis “Trip” Gregory III, senior vice president of Palmetto Health, was named the 2011 Human Resources Professional of the Year by the S.C. Chamber of Commerce and the S.C. State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management.
