First Citizens, Exchange Bank to merge

The companies are both wholly owned subsidiaries of First Citizens Bancorp. Inc. The merger consolidates two separate banking operations of Columbia-based First Citizens Bancorp. in Williamsburg County. Pending regulatory approval, the merger is expected to close in July.

Companion Life acquires Utah-based dental insurer

The Columbia-based insurance company purchased Total Dental Administrators Inc., and its affiliates and subsidiaries, for an undisclosed amount. Total Dental provides insurance and is a third-party administrator of employer-based plans.

DAK Americas completes acquisition of Eastman facilities

DAK Americas LLC announced today that it has completed the $600 million acquisition of the integrated polyethylene terephthalate resin and purified terephthalic acid business of Eastman Chemical Co. facilities in Columbia.

Bond funding helps YMCA of Sumter refinance, expand

The $1.35 million facilitated by the S.C. Jobs-Economic Development Authority will go toward refinancing of prior loans and to pay for construction and building improvements for expansion of wellness and recreational programs.
