Hog farm to generate renewable energy

The 180-kilowatt Burrows Hall Renewable Energy Facility is expected to begin generating renewable energy for the grid early this summer. It will produce enough power for approximately 90 average South Carolina homes.

Boeing picks N.C. company for logistics support

Another company is moving to the Charleston area to help Boeing build 787 Dreamliners at its final assembly plant. N.C.-based New Breed Logistics, already a Boeing partner, plans to open a new facility near the Boeing plant in North Charleston.

Police arrest store owner, confiscate clothing

Officers confiscated apparel and charged Jessica Freitas Norris with trafficking in counterfeit goods at Evolution Designer Apparel of Dutch Square Mall last Thursday. Norris, who owns Evolution Designer Apparel, could face up to five years in prison and a fine of $25,000.

SBA deputy administrator to visit Columbia

SBA Deputy Administrator Marie Johns will visit the S.C. Minority Business Enterprise Center in Columbia on Tuesday to discuss how local minority-owned businesses are creating jobs and helping to drive economic recovery with help from the SBA.

Tax reductions coming for 45,000 S.C. businesses

Out of 97,000 employers who report wages, almost 45,000 will have their payments reduced, some will pay nothing. This reduction is primarily because for the last seven years the employees of these businesses have neither been laid off nor have they had to draw unemployment benefits.



Governor's School hosts annual research colloquium

Fifty GSSM students, along with 11 scholars from high schools across the state, will present findings from scientific research conducted during their participation in the 2010 Summer Program for Research Interns.
