December grads to enter brighter job market

December college graduates are stepping into a brighter job market that is expected to grow slowly, according to national statistics and figures from the University of South Carolina Career Center. Supply chain management is among the hottest fields, the school said.

Study: S.C. loses $400M annually in road revenue

South Carolina is missing out on millions in federal matching revenue needed to build and maintain roads by keeping its state gas tax low, according to analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. South Carolina motorists currently pay 35.2 cents in federal, state and local taxes on one gallon of gasoline.

 

 

Columbia airport launches $1M renovation

The Federal Aviation Administration is paying for 95% of the project, which involves renovating all of the public restrooms in the Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s terminal building.

EagleEye Analytics appoints new CEO

Roger Burkhardt has been named president and CEO of EagleEye, the company announced today. Burkhardt previously worked for IBM’s Wall Street business and the New York Stock Exchange. The Columbia-based company is a provider of predictive analytics solutions to the insurance industry.

 

Study: Government workers face benefits changes

Among the changes employees could see in their benefits packages are wellness initiatives, according to the study completed by the Government Finance Officers Association. It also showed the most common cost-savings techniques were not always the most effective.

Job of the Week

A full-time position for a plastic injection molding engineer is open. The position requires competencies in molding, tooling, quality inspection, production scheduling and supervision. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing. A bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering, mechanical engineering or a similar four-year degree is preferred.
