Avtec aims to open new computer manufacturing facility

Gilbert-based Avtec Inc. is seeking a fee-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with Lexington County to invest $7.6 million in a new computer console manufacturing facility that it expects will employ 25 additional workers. The agreement is on the agenda for today’s council meeting.

WNS to create 300 jobs in Richland County

The Mumbai, India-based provider of business process outsourcing services is leasing 23,000 square feet of space in the State Media Co. building on Shop Road. The company plans to start operations in July.

 


Federal-Mogul to expand in Orangeburg County

Federal-Mogul Friction Products said it will invest at least $7 million and generate 40 new jobs at the Orangeburg plant. The company develops and manufactures extended-life brake friction products, and is a supplier of friction products to original equipment manufacturers.

Neace Lukens buys First Carolina Risk Management

First Carolina, with offices in Charleston and Columbia, provides risk management, employee benefits and personal lines solutions to commercial and individual clients. The acquisition will allow First Carolina to offer a deeper portfolio of insurance products and services.

 

 


USC alumni association names executive director

Jack W. Claypoole, a native of Clinton, will take over at My Carolina Alumni Association on July 18. Claypoole graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1987 with a degree in journalism. He was chosen after a national search.

Two properties sold in Columbia area

The former Strobler Home Furnishings building at 2864 Devine St. in Columbia has been sold, NAI Avant reported. The brokerage also handled the sale of 132 Stonemark Lane in the St. Andrews area.

 

City of Greenville to acquire site for Public Works

Greenville City Council gave preliminary approval Monday to acquire property along Fairforest Way that would be used to construct a new Public Works facility. The West Greenville site of the current facility could be turned into a public park along the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
