SCE&G updates construction schedule for reactor units

The agreement South Carolina Electric & Gas reached with Westinghouse and The Shaw Group essentially means the first of two new reactor units will be completed a year later than planned, while the second unit will be finished six months ahead of schedule.

NuScale submits SMR proposal for federal funding

Oregon-based NuScale has committed to build a prototype small modular reactor at the Savannah River Site. In its announcement, NuScale said South Carolina Electric and Gas Co. will lead a consortium to license and operate the first NuScale plant at SRS.

 


SCBT rebrands Peoples Bancorp. offices

SCBT Financial, parent of Columbia-based South Carolina Bank and Trust, completed the rebranding of five Upstate locations acquired in a merger with Peoples National Bancorp. SCBT now has 13 offices in the Upstate and a total of 28 offices in counties along the I-85 corridor.

S.C. State trustees name interim president finalists

The S.C. State University board of trustees named Ivan W. Banks, Leonard McIntyre and Cynthia Warrick as the three finalists for the interim president of S.C. State University.

SCBT donates computers to Midlands parents

The computers, provided by South Carolina Bank and Trust, were awarded to parents who are active in Richland One schools. The program was organized by Naomi Washington, coordinator for Communities in Schools of the Midlands at Thomas Elementary.
