SCBT Financial net income hits $7M for Q1

SCBT Financial Corp.’s net income for the first quarter is nearly triple the $2.5 million reported for the first three months of 2011. Total assets exceeded the $4 billion benchmark for the first time in the company’s history. The banking company is ranked No. 6 in South Carolina in terms of deposit market share.

S.C. transportation plan touted as roadmap for growth

A statewide transportation plan aimed at bolstering South Carolina’s distribution and logistics network should set the table for economic growth through the 21st century, experts and industry officials say.

 


Startup center to be one-stop shop for entrepreneurs

The Midlands Center for Entrepreneurial and Technological Innovation will connect entrepreneurs with resources in the community to help them start new businesses. Innovista Partnerships Director Don Herriott said entrepreneurship can spring from any discipline.

SCBT names Lindsey market president

Banking veteran Jimmy Lindsey will oversee the bank’s Anderson and Seneca markets as South Carolina Bank & Trust grows its footprint in the Upstate. He joined SCBT in 2002 as a commercial lender, and was promoted to southern Greenville County executive in 2005.

 


2,350 participate in S.C. BlueCross walk

Walkers covered 2,785 miles during the sixth annual National Walk at Lunch Day at Marion Square in Charleston, Morgan Square in Spartanburg, the Statehouse in Columbia and Falls Park in Greenville. Getting away from the desk and walking for 30 minutes each day benefits employees’ health, BlueCross said.

SCMEP promotes Sudduth to regional VP

Melanie Sudduth will serve Greenville area clients of the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Sudduth has been with the organization since 2003, and has manufacturing experience at GE Power Systems and Milliken.
