S.C. income growth trails national average

The manufacturing, real estate and professional services industries led earnings growth in South Carolina during 2011, according to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, but the state’s personal income growth rate of 4.7% still trailed the national average.

Haley’s war chest loaded with out-of-state cash

Gov. Nikki Haley’s out-of-state fundraising accounts for about 35% of her total political war chest. She’s raised more out-of-state money than governors in neighboring states and her predecessor, former Gov. Mark Sanford, who raised about 23% from out of state contributors.

Teegen: Moore School evolves to meet business needs

Hildy Teegen, dean of the USC business school, said one of her initiatives is to work with the state Department of Commerce to create a consortium of international businesses that have a presence in South Carolina. Teegen also said she sees the school’s mission as statewide, and one that complements other business programs.

USC Honors College ranked as No. 1 honors school

In the first-ever ranking of public university honors colleges, the South Carolina Honors College was ranked No. 1, according to the soon-to-be published guide, A Review of Fifty Public University Honors Programs. The college enrolls 1,400 students.
