Estimate of gold at Kershaw mine up 29%

An updated report says there could be another 916,000 ounces of gold at the Haile Gold Mine in Lancaster County. Overall, the amount of gold — both measured and indicated — could total 4 million ounces, according to the mine’s owner, Romarco Minerals Inc.

Chapin chamber to host community summit

The Greater Chapin Chamber of Commerce is seeking to attract residents of the 29036 zip code as well as people who work in Chapin for the March 8 summit. The results of a community survey will be presented at the town-hall style meeting.

Basil Thai Cuisine to open at Cross Hill Market

Edens, the Columbia-based real estate developer, has signed Basil Thai Cuisine restaurants as a tenant in the new Cross Hill Market near Fort Jackson Boulevard in Columbia. The 3,250-square-foot restaurant is scheduled to open in October.

SCANA Energy retained as Ga.’s regulated gas provider

The SCANA subsidiary has been selected by the Georgia Public Service Commission to provide natural gas service for qualified elderly and low-income customers. SCANA Energy was selected in a competitive bid, the Georgia agency said.

M&A industry active in S.C. during first quarter

There were 47 mergers and acquisitions involving companies or assets in South Carolina during the first quarter of 2012, according to data provided by S&P Capital IQ. Deal values ranged in size from $500,000 to $620 million.
