State military panel back in business

The South Carolina Military Base Task Force, charged with looking out for the state’s military communities, has been revived and is expected to hold its first meeting in more than a year around mid-February. It’s likely another round of base closings is on the horizon.

Canal chief won’t pick sides in port fight

The ports of Charleston and Savannah should be improved because both will be needed as trade expands with the rest of the world, according to the CEO of the Panama Canal Authority. Political firefights that attempt to stymie the efforts of one port over another to deepen their harbors can hurt both sides, he added.

Study: SCRA contributes $1.45B to S.C. economy

An economic impact study by the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business also showed that SCRA supports more than 15,000 technology jobs in South Carolina with an average wage between $55,000 and $75,000.

Pharmacy school opens entrepreneurship center

Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy opened the Center for Entrepreneurial Development to provide students and others in the community insight on starting businesses. The program is not limited to pharmacy businesses.

BMW invests $500,000 in solar power

BMW Manufacturing installed enough solar panels at its Spartanburg County facility to power the 24,000-square-foot Zentrum Museum, the plant’s heritage museum and visitors’ center. The 400 solar modules can produce 240 watts of energy each.

The position requires an MD degree, at least three years of internal medicine residency training leading to board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine, three years of training in an accredited Hematology/Oncology program, and a license to practice medicine in South Carolina.
