ZF Group to expand plans for Laurens County

The German supplier of automotive components will add $80 million to its planned capital investment in Laurens County, bringing the total to $430 million, and boost estimated employment there to 1,200 from the original 900 jobs it announced last year. ZF continues construction work at the plant, which is expected to open in 2012.

Innovative Composites to build in Orangeburg County

The $9.3 million investment is expected to generate 300 new jobs over the next five years. ICI will locate its new facility in the former DANA building in the Orangeburg County/City Industrial Park and will do business there under the name EcoScapes Composites LLC.

Fluor announces leadership change at SRS

Dwayne Wilson, a 31-year Fluor veteran and group president overseeing the company’s mining & metals and manufacturing & life sciences business lines, has been named president and CEO of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.

Discounted homes attract global buyers

Mortgages have been turned upside down, according to Clemson University Economist Bruce Yandle’s latest economic situation report. About 23% of mortgage-financed homes in the U.S. were worth less than the mortgage balance due to the lender for the fourth quarter of 2010, according to Corelogic.

Milliken & Co. names Chandler new chairman

Harold Chandler has been elected non-executive chairman of the board at Milliken & Co., replacing retiring Dan Sanders in that position. Chandler has served on Milliken’s board for 10 years, most recently as chairman of the human resources and compensation committee.
