Innovista to present seminar on angel investing

Efforts are under way to provide a resource of seed capital for startup companies in the Midlands. The seminar will be led by Bill Payne, who has invested in more than 50 startup companies and founded four angel investment networks.

Columbia tops in state for investing in rental homes

The Capital city ranked 43rd in the top 100 U.S. markets, followed by Greenville and Charleston, according to a third-quarter survey by Dallas-based HomeVestors of America.

S.C. Chamber announces manufacturers of the year

Winners and nominees were honored before an audience of fellow manufacturers and business leaders at the South Carolina Manufacturer of the Year Awards luncheon, presented by Nexsen Pruet.

Duke, Progress honored for support of development

Hilex Poly and ChicoBag settle lawsuit

Hilex Poly Co. LLC, a manufacturer and recycler of plastic bags, films and wraps, and ChicoBag, a designer of reusable bags, reached a settlement agreement resolving a lawsuit in which Hilex Poly contended that ChicoBag was making false marketing claims. The agreement resulted in an undisclosed payment to Hilex Poly.

Santee Cooper approves refunding bond sale

The Santee Cooper board of directors approved the sale of $135,855,000 in refunding bonds, with a current value savings of $7.7 million, during a board meeting today.

The Upstate SC Alliance is seeking to hire a marketing research manager. The position will manage all research efforts, including compilation of data; and development of presentations, websites and marketing collateral. The manager will identify areas within the organization that need research assistance; design, manage and implement the data collection; and analyze and report the results.
